The Contours of Figures discover more Skill in Designing, than the Lights and Shadows: The first requires the greatest strength of Thought, and the latter the greater Extent and Compass; For the Members are confined to a certain Number of Motions; but the Projections of Shadows, the Qualities of Light, their Degradations, &c. are infinite.
