By how much the Air is nearer the Earth, or Water, by so much it is the more gross; this follows from a Proposition which I have else where demonstrated, viz. that a heavy Body raises it self less, than a light one; whence, by the Rule of Contraries, it follows, that a light Body raises it self higher than a light one.
